Nine Loves!

In no particular order...

(one)

My kittens...I got two kittens back in May- they were 5 weeks old but their mom abandoned them so I took them home early. I basically fed them out of the palm of my hand and spent almost $100 on formula to make sure they stayed healthy.

(two)
Coffee- it is my fuel! I actually prefer to brew my coffee at home rather than buy it in the morning but I HAVE to get it somehow.

(three)
My Keurig brewer for coffee. I just bought my Keurig this week and I LOVE it. I got it for $68 because I returned some stuff to the store- cheap for a Keurig!

(four)
I seriously cannot get enough of office supplies. I love going back to school shopping because I know there will be new Sharpies, folders, binders in the store. I love buying Post-its and office stationary as well.

(five)
Summer- my absolute, hands down, no questions favorite season. I love seeing sun all the time, laying at the pool, staying up late, going out with friends. In Michigan the falls are really cold and winter is the worst EVER- think slush EVERYWHERE, snowing 24/7 and temps so low your car won't start.

(six)
Decorating- I'm constantly thinking of new ways to re-do my house. I'm slowly getting all of the stuff I want done, but it's a process!

(seven)
Jewelry- I can never leave the house without at least earrings and a necklace. Sometimes I feel naked without my rings on, too.

(eight)
Lazy mornings. I consider today a lazy morning because I didn't have to be up till 9:15, I don't have to work, and I get to blog and enjoy coffee! During football season I get up every Saturday at 6 to babysit and I used to wake up at 7 every Saturday to give tours at work. I LOVE having them off.

(nine)
Manicures- the instant pick me up in my opinion. I actually don't like FULL manicures because I don't like people holding/massaging/rubbing lotion on my hands, so I always just go in and ask them to file my nails and polish them. What's your favorite nail polish color?

(ten)
Candles and good smelling things. I had a convo with one of my bosses once how annoying it is when someones house smells GROSS and they cover it up with candles...I hate that. ANYWAYS my house is clean clean clean but I always sprinkle carpet refresher into the carpets, I have an air freshener ON each litter box, and a Glade plug in for the main room. I love burning candles that smell like caramel, vanilla, leaves (B&BW has a leaves scent- LOVE), maple....pretty much anything. I will say that fall has the best candle scents as far as season goes.

Relax today, lovies!
XO

I saw this on another blog the other day but CMae posted a picture for it and I'm going to do it!

Ten Secrets...

1. I'm scared of the dark. I still jump into bed every night because I'm CERTAIN something is under it.

2. I can't drink more than two drinks before I'm on the floor. Thus, I water every drink I have down by at least half. Does anybody else do this?

3. I hate surprises- especially in the form of parties and/or activities. I need everything to be planned and know details before I can do something.

4. I hate sharing a bed. I'll probably have to get a King size bed when I get married because I really, really like my space. This isn't much of a secret, now that I've typed it.

5. I have two closets full of clothes. I don't show it to anybody when they come over because I'm embarassed!

6. Sometimes I "know" that I'm going to end up sacrificing fun activities, vacations, etc for work in the future. I already do it now- I'm definitely a workaholic.

7. I wish I were more adventerous. I want to plan some small day trips this September because I have most of my Saturdays off, but I have a really hard time doing things on a whim.

8. I've never been to Chicago, New York, Northern MI, or the UP. I LIVE in Michigan- 4 hours from Northern Michigan...I have not lived.

9. My desk is slowly turning into a spa. I have three lip glosses, a nail file, and some lotions in my desk. Necessary? Yes.

10. I hate when people send emails in stupid fonts. Times New Roman and Arial are the only acceptable fonts to me.

XO,
Leigh

BIG WEEK!

The week is over. Done. Gone. See ya. Byebye. Thanks for coming.

...and Thank God. It was a rough week, a tough week, an emotional week. I'm putting it behind me and ready to start this week with a positive attitude!

This is a big week for Reese! She turned 21 and celebrated with a BOOZE CRUISE down in Ohio! Now we can finally enjoy some tailgates this fall and spend some time downtown bar hopping! AND Reese is moving back up to the Mitten today! School starts in 10 days and the city is about to get busy!

I'm So Tired.

I know I'm new to this blogging thing and it's unlike me to be so emotional, but it's just been such a rough week.

I know that compared to others, my life is ah-ma-zing and I really have nothing to complain about...but...

I'm constantly on the go. Mondays and Saturdays are my only days off, so on Monday I did four- yes, four loads of laundry, cleaned closets, vacuumed, organized, sifted through drawers and boxes, cleaned closets, etc. The rest of the week I work 8-10 hours a day and still try to come home and straighten, wash,...all that other stuff. It's truly draining and I only live on my own. My husband is going to end up doing his own laundry, I swear.

I feel like I've lost all of my friends this week. For things I did with good intentions, some friends are mad at me. For things I did unknowingly, friends are mad at me. Other friends are out of town doing FUN stuff- vacation, beach, relaxing, eating out...where am I? Stuck in an office.

I've lost so much of my passion for life. At work I try to be level headed and happy- clients comment on how helpful and thorough I am; at home I try to keep my house neat and clean; I try to keep up relationships, manage my money, focus on school, be a good person, get to church once a week. I spend my weekends with the boyfriend which throws me off. My own mother told me I'm too wrapped up in everything, I'm too much of a giver- I put myself out there TOO much.

...but where is the time for me? I do absolutely nothing for myself. I find myself DAILY saying "I wish I could..." "I wish I did..." "I wish I knew how..." and I never make time to do those things.

How do you deal?
How do you balance?
How do you put yourself first sometimes?
How do you de-stress and relax?

....Anyone?

Weekend Recap!

I'm taking a break from non-stop cleaning to do a weekend recap! After work Friday I drove to the boyfriends house and spent the evening helping him do home improvement projects. On Saturday we slept IN and had a surprise party for his brother's girlfriend. I definitely didn't relax enough but it was fun either way! I'm hoping to get in a truly relaxing weekend before midterms- yeah...maybe?

My sweet man! I promise not to post about us too much or be too sappy but I really do think he is pretty handsome :)

My favesies!

He had a sip of my marg and got some salt...sorry, bud!

E was actually in this picture but he's a ninja so you can't see him. So he says.

...Crazy cat lady, no? I hold my kittens ALL the freakin' time and they get so annoyed. "Mom, I iz tiiiireds"

I don't know why the "Hard Hitting Journalism" post is back- maybe because I edited it? I'm so bad at this whole technology thing!

Either way, you GUYS, I'm home! Maine was such a whirlwind trip- we landed 4 hours before the wedding rehearsal, spent Friday having fun and at THE WEDDING, and Saturday left early to come back home.
I'm so happy for Julia and Tim- their wedding was beautiful and they did EVERY.THING. themselves.
This is me before the wedding...I actually sent this to boyfriend but it's a good shot of my hair and makeup at least! I have some more pictures but my email isn't really cooperating right now.

These are some pretty flowers that showed up unexpectedly a couple weeks ago!

Hard Hitting Journalism...

Around these parts (sorry, I'm feeling a little Western today) we're really into hard hitting journalism- things that matter. Such issues include but are not limited to: cupcakes, decor, laundry rooms, jewelry, beachy things and coffee. Since you all need to know some important things...I'm going to share them with you. Simple as that. Lets get started, shall we?

1. You should all check out Pioneer Woman...her blog is so fabulous and some days I just want to be like her. I would probably die if she ever commented on a blog post, although I'm sure she has more important things to do, like make this perfect iced coffee. I'll be trying this Monday evening, since I plan when I do fun things and all.

2. After 21 years, my mother is still the best worse voice of reason in my life. I hate most of the things she tells me because they're logical and correct and they're what I should do. I can't wait till I have kids and I can tell them things that are logical and correct...that moment will be bliss.

3. I got a kitten last week. Actually...two. They're brother and sister, and until I give the brother away, they're both staying with me. My laundry room is now a kitten sanctuary, all inclusive with litter box, plush bedding (read: ratty towels) and formula that costs $12 a container. Let me do the math for you since they have to be on that formula for another three weeks: $48 on kitten formula. Forrealz.

4. Working weddings is boring sometimes. I'm just being honest, I really wish I could be more involved in the weddings I work. I wish I could do more than just clean up and make sure vendors are here on time. I love my job buttt...I really want to coordinate, not just supervise. :)
5. I think Reese moves back home (read: not home) in 8 or so weeks! I can't wait to see her so we can bake, have sangria days and coffee dates. We are basically twins separated at birth and summers are rough without her here to hang out with!

6. I need a new desk and a TV stand/cabinet/thingy. Do any of you have matching ones of these? I want a really sturdy desk...because mine just has 4 legs and no cross supprt (thanks for teaching me that, dad!) and now it's all wobbly. It may also be wobbly because it's over 5 years old, and my ex and I decided to take it apart last year and spray paint it. By the way, it wasn't supposed to come apart...

That's really all I have for you today. I want to get some pictures of my kittens up soon and maybe do some decorating at home!

Have a good weekend, lovies
XO

Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Can you guess where I'm going for the weekend?

In other news, I FOUND MY CAMERA! I'm going to try to remember to take 794739 pictures this weekend so I can show all of you my travels/adventures.

Have a good weekend, loves.
XO
